Don't expect Sacramento City Counsel to reverse 'crash tax'

Roseville seems poised tonight to be the first city in the region to repeal its "crash tax." I wouldn't expect the same from Sacramento. Roseville city officials have said their crash fee program - which charges nonresidents if they cause auto wrecks within city limits requiring fire department response - hasn't lived up to expectations. Driving in Sacto can be quite taxing

Travel tip: if you're thinking about driving to Sacramento, don't. Cancel hotel reservations. Skip the convention. If you're merely planning to drive through, don't linger. If you're flying there, don't rent a car. Call a cab or take a shuttle. Our state capital is about to become inhospitable to out-of-town motorists. READ MORE >>

That's why we motorists are captive cash cows. Politicians know we must drive to live and therefore assume that no matter how hard they hit us, we'll pay up. READ MORE >>

Demolition Begins Monday as Longtime Chevy Showroom Upgrades

Of all the things on his mind since moving into new digs at Fulton and El Camino avenues last August, longtime local car dealer Brian Castonguay says one of his biggest concerns has been "what to do with the clock." The clock in this case is a massive round one just beneath the center roofline of the Kuni Chevrolet building at 2449 Fulton Ave. READ MORE >>

Last year, 22,529 California homes sold for $1 million or more – a 21 percent increase f... READ MORE >>
